Achille Castiglioni's hive-like Splügen Bräu, originally belonged to the restaurant of the same name in his native Milan. The Splügen Bräu restaurant was a brilliant renunciation of the perception of modernism as frigid and impersonal, with its warm colors, open spaces and subtle return to the lines of Art Noveau.

The Splugen Brau is inspired on the shining surface of vacuum flasks and cocktail shakers from the 1960s. Splügen Bräu features a thick, ribbed aluminum body which aids heat dispersal. The inverted bowl-style pendant spills indirect yet concentrated light from its expressive, polished aluminum shade.
